This is another exceptional, investment-grade art doll from the independent San Francisco studio of renowned artists Pamela and Noel Valentine. This is a true Studio Original, entirely hand-crafted, hand-painted, and hand-dressed by the artists. This piece is completely separate from their brief late-1980s commercial retail licensing deal with Gorham. While mass-market dolls were manufactured by the thousands, this exquisite studio original is from an incredibly low boutique run of only 50 pieces worldwide. More importantly, this specific doll is Number 4 of 50, making it a highly desirable early-production piece. Early numbers are coveted by serious collectors because they represent the crispest mold details and the artists' initial, purest vision for the character.
She has beautiful light brown hair, expertly hand-painted facial features, and fine artisanal craftsmanship. Katrina features a stunning, winter-inspired take on Pamela Valentine's signature romantic Victorian aesthetic. She wears an exquisite turquoise blue satin and lace dress with a sewn-in fabric "Valentine's Ladies" label inside the dress. The gown is beautifully accented with an attached fur-lined hood, and she carries a matching faux-fur muffler on her right hand.
Excellent vintage studio condition. Beautifully preserved and kept in a smoke-free, climate-controlled environment. Free of chips, cracks, or repairs. The custom studio clothing is intact, clean, and retains its vivid turquoise color and soft fur trim. Collector's Note: Because of its elite studio provenance and low edition size, Katrina holds a distinct niche value far beyond standard retail production dolls.
